Purpose Of Study

What will you Study?

The purpose of this training is to prepare the learner to;

  • Carry out basic assessments of communities, households groups and individuals.
  • Provide basic health education and referrals for a wide range of services.
  • Support and assist in navigating the health and social services system

Course Duration

It can be done in twelve (12) months on full-time attendance (i.e. Mon to Fri) and learners will write national exams after completing the course. Learners who pass will receive an Occupational Certificate: Health Promotion Officer approved by Quality Council for Trades & Occupations(QCTO).

Training Requirements.

  • Ancillary Health Care NQF Level 1 or

  • ABET Level 4 with FLC or

  • Grade 9, 10, 11 or 12 (No specific subjects are required)

  • The learners must be adequately mobile to execute the work within a community.
  • Adequate visual and hearing capacity to master the skills as described in the curriculum document.
