Grader operation is the process of using a grader (also called a motor grader or road grader) to create a level surface on the ground. Grader operators use heavy equipment to spread and sort materials such as dirt, rocks, and gravel for road construction and maintenance.

The code of Practice is Valid for 2 years. To renew your certificate and operator’s license, visit our offices. Renewals are done at the same time as you are already on our System.
For fresh or new operators, Grader operator license and operator certificate costs are included in the operator skills training fees which is R5000. Renewing a Grader license or Certification due to previous experience operating a Grader operator without papers is called RPL which costs R5000.

Grader operator course normally lasts between 1 to 2 weeks depending on factors such as; previous experience, learner capabilities, weather( as it affects practical sessions). The course involves class training as well as practical sessions on the machine.

In South Africa, the grader operators earn a minimum salary of R25000. The salary also depends on the company the operator is working for, experience, other allowances, etc
